This gap in our cultural literacy is unfortunate, for the Celtic peoples developed a rich and fascinating tradition of legends and myths. The Mythological Cycle is a collective term for those stories in ancient myths that describe the activities of the 'Otherworld' characters who are reputed to have landed in Ireland in pre-historic times. The Mythical Cycle was the first of the cycles and was followed by the Fionn Cycle and the Ulster Cycle.
